Riddick Pre-Columbian Artifact Collection

We are very pleased to offer a fine group of Pre-Columbian Artifacts from the Dr. Earl Riddick collection. This Pre-Columbian collection was acquired during he 1960's, largely from or with the help of Dr. David Harner (Greg Perino's associate while at the Gilcrease Museum). More on Dr. Harner can be found in Who's Who in Indian Relics, Volume 2 (1968). During the next 40 years, Dr. Frederick Dockstader evaluated and appraised the Riddick Collection several times. Dr. Dockstader served as the Director of the Museum of the American Indian (Heye). Most of the Riddick artifacts were individually recorded in these appraisals. A copy of the listing in Dr. Dockstader's appraisal will accompany all applicable artifacts. The Riddicks are well known for their donations of Pre-Columbian artifacts to several universities, including the University of Central Arkansas and the Gilcrease Museum. This is the finest collection of Pre-Columbian pottery we have seen. It is a great old collection with excellent provenance. Sam Johnson of Caddo Trading Company has recently reviewed the Riddick Collection. Mr. Johnson, a leading expert in pottery and very familiar with Pre-Columbian pottery in general, is willing to issue a COA on all the artifacts listed in this auction.
