A few highlights: Lot 244: A rare Dutch Delft black model of a cow (?8.000-?10.000) Lot 330: A Dutch Delft blue and white model of a calvary, last quarter 17th C. (?8.000-?10.000) Lot 514: An exceptional Italian maiolica dish, dated 1540 (?15.000-?20.000) Lot 515: An important Urbino maiolica armorial ewer, Fontana workshop, ca. 1560 (?6.000-?8.000) 560 lots including important European ceramics: Dutch and English Delftware, Italian maiolica, Brussels faience and a collection of tiles. A very varied selection with many objects of museal quality. Furthermore, fine paintings, including works spanning from the 16th until the 20th C. with great artists such as Belgium's famous Roger Raveel and the Haarlem-based Dutch painter Salomon de Bray. Fine furniture including two cabinets and a wonderful display cabinet by the Antwerp furniture house "Maison Franck". African arts including a selection of African arms, statues and masks, all from private collections belonging to families that had members live in Belgian Congo. Photography, with interesting works related to Africa and Europe. The sale includes 3 important private collections, of which the Van Herck collection is the most notorious. The Van Herck family led one of Belgium's most famous auction houses, based in Antwerp. It includes a.o. two fine pieces of Italian maiolica, both previously unrecorded.
