Literature & Modern First Editions

The highlight of this popular sale is an extremely rare first edition of John Keats first book of Poems from 1817. To find a copy in its original binding in almost as-new condition is remarkable and it is estimated to realise £20,000-25,000. A complete set of Marcel Proust A La Recherche du Temps Perdu with a volume signed by the author dated from 1913 is estimated at £6000-8000. With almost 1000 lots on offer from 16th century Continental books to Modern First Editions this is another bumper literary offering. A first edition of E M Forster's A Passage to India is valued at £3000-4000; while an early Ptolemy Atlas with beautiful woodcut maps (1 missing) is reckoned at £15,000-20,000.
