19th & 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles

WE DO NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS: We are happy and proud to have been chosen to auction the estate of Frances Stewart Higgins. Mrs. Higgins and her late husband Michael were well known in the collector circles for their unique art glass that they had been producing since about the time they were wed in 1948. They experimented in areas no other glassmakers had and through a succession of “controlled accidents” they came upon a handcrafted glass like no other. Within a couple of years they were having a hard time keeping up with the demand for their work. Marshall Field, Bloomingdale’s and Georg Jensen were just a few of their retailers. We are offering close to three hundred pieces of art glass from their own private collection. Many of the pieces had been illustrated in a reference book by Donald-Brian Johnson and Leslie Pina titled Higgins Adventures in Glass. Their tastes in other collectibles varied greatly. Also being offered from her estate is a large selection of Santos sculptures, Native American pottery and baskets, glass and pottery antiquities, art glass from other well known makers and a collection of primitive kitchen ware and accessories. U.S. COINS: To include gold coins, silver dollars, half dollars, quarters, dimes and more. U.S. large and small size notes National currency, Federal Reserve Notes, silver and gold certificates and more. STAMPS: To include United States, Great Britain, British Empire & Commonwealth, Australia, Canada, Israel, Poland, Czechoslovakia, United Nations, Vatican City, Italy and more.
