Silver Canvas: The Art of California Silver

Edwin Iloff, the Sacramento State professor of physics was without question the most prolific collector of California silver to date. He approached collecting silver as a student, not a teacher. His inspiration to focus on the regional vernacular of a centuries-old mechanical art-form was motivated by his mentor, the renowned scholar and author, Pansylea Wilburn, who he met at a chance encounter in 1980. That introduction ignited a passion in Mr. Iloff that would remain his primary life focus. As a result, his legacy is, in part, marked by this prolific collection of silver that is an artistic and cultural archive of our California heritage.
