Hudson Valley Auctioneers cranks up 2017 and it's 34th year with a Sunday, January 1st auction The sale includes several partial estate contents from Westchester Counties, NYC and environs and will be offered in online and offline sessions. Christmas came early with the commission to sell a forty foot storage unit carefully packed and untouched for decades. The lot opens the sale and is offered in groups throughout the day with a collection of Chinese and Japanese items including fine porcelains, carvings, furniture, silver, carpets, many bronzes and other artifacts. The variety and diversity original owner illustrates a passion for the decorations of both cultures. Shifting to the Western world and first offering of several of the day's 40 or so artworks by among others Chagall, Mario Borgoni, George Wexler and Siegfried Klotz, followed by a 7 foot carved marble by sculptor Oscar , a 1979 Mercedes 280ce. An L. Vuitton steamer trunk, a possibly significant Sino Tibetan gilt multi piece bronze grouping. We continue with Continental furniture and period American pieces plus decorative accessories incl. a rare Barbedienne bronze pedestal and a stenciled rosewood marble top pier table. Mid Century pieces are highlighted by a rare Paul Evans Argente slate top cube table, an Evans patchwork slate top console and matching mirror, a set of six metal chairs by Mathieu Mategot, several pieces by James Mont, a circa 1970 signed Silas Seandel sculture & a large glass top iron based dining table, a pair of gilt bronze andirons after Giacometti authorized copy from Rockefeller collection signed and dated 1975. A Philip Johnson designed and executed room dividing bar cabinet commissioned by William Burden Jr. & a brass bound green lacquered collectors cabinet mounted with brass plaque engraved 'Bronzini" will lead a comprehensive grouping from the period.
