Group of Signed Books by Eric Sloane

A lovely group of signed books by Eric Sloane, each identified below:

1. A Museum of Early American Tools,  Wilfred Funk Inc.1964.  Signed with a drawing by Eric Sloane on the half title page who also included a drawing of a covered bridge "To The Shirey Library / Eric Sloane". A near fine copy of Eric Sloane's "sketchbook" of pioneer Americans who fashioned their own tools. Fine condition brown cloth boards in a near fine orange dust jacket with slight nicking and fading to the spine. Internally bright and vibrant with no indication that the book was ever a part of the a library's inventory.

2. The Seasons of America Past, Wilfred Funk Inc, 1958. Signed on the half title page by Eric Sloane "Eric Sloane / New Milford". Fine condition brick colored cloth boards with a near fine lightly nicked and rubbed dust jacket.

3. Boxed set, The DO's and DON'TS of Yesterday, Walker & Company, 1972. A fine set of amusing books of short quips about the things you "don't do", and the things that are proper (the "Do's"), from a bygone era of early American Gentility. Fine condition books in a near fine box.

Eric Sloane (born Everard Jean Hinrichs) (27 February 1905 – 5 March 1985) was an American landscape painter, illustrator, and author of illustrated books on the cultural history and folklore of America. He also was a prolific member of the Hudson River School of painting, it is generally accepted that Eric Sloane was a artistic genius. While restoring a Connecticut farmhouse in the early 1950's he began to identify with the Early American settlers, and is also credited with being the foremost authority on Early American rural architecture and Early American tools.
