Cut-out sheet metal with polychrome enamels, a double sided rooster (14 1/4 x 17 in.); a (32 1/2 in.) (paint skips to head); a cow, all signed "SAM".
Born in Fairmont, North Carolina, Sam "The Dot Man" McMillan was a self-taught folk artist who exhibited works at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C. and the African American Museum in Dallas, Texas. He began painting in his 60s and attended his first Outsider Arts Fair in New York in the 1990s.
