attributed to Frederick Carder, early 20th century, rosaline acid cut back to alabaster with chinoiserie flowers and medallions, shape no. 1362, signed "F. Carder" and "Steuben". 3-1/4 x 8-1/8 in.; rosaline plate, signed "F. Carder" and "Steuben", 8-3/8 in. diameterÿ - Provenance: Frank Blake, Corning, New York, purchased October 1973 for $1,200 (compote, accompanied by copy of receipt); Tom Dimitroff, Corning, New York, purchased October 1972 for $50 (plate); Rockwell Gallery, Corning, New York (plate, labels attached); Estate of Jay R. Doros, Springfield, New Jersey - Note: According to Frank Blake, the previous consignor, Steuben made only two compotes with acid cut back designs, the other example being in the Rockwell Museum's collection.
