Description
Marc Chagall, an important numbered lithograph in colours, "Le Soleil de Paris", 1977. No. 137 / 150, printed by Charles Sorlier, Paris. Signed Marc Chagall in graphite bottom right. Framed. Dimensions, 25" x 19". Provenance: The Joseph Liverant Estate, Ottawa, Canada. Chagall's use of some of the most brilliantly vibrant blues are what set Chagall "Le soleil de Paris (Paris' Sun)" apart from any other. He uses the same shade of bold blue in varying tones and hues to create the beautiful Parisian city scape which fades into the horizon, with the Eiffel Tower visible in the background. Showing a deep red, the sun acts as the heart of Paris, along with Chagall's enchanting characters and people that make the city one of the most loved in the world. The bouquet of flowers in the bottom left inspired by the sun, draws your eye down into the streets of Paris.
