Description
The late 19th century Japanese pottery Satsuma style vase originating from an Osaka or Kyoto region pottery having a body of tapered ovoid form resting on a stepped, splayed foot and rising to a waisted, cylindrical neck with everted wavy rim, the shoulder moulded with shishi, ring and tassel faux handles, decorated in overglaze enamels with a panel depicting embattled armored warriors beneath a pine tree, the reverse with a bijin and attendants in an interior setting, all on a ground of various diaper designs and decorative emblems, unmarked.
