HISTORY: Very interesting historical detail: the Hussar uniform in the Russian Army has always been bright and elegant. This was one of the factors in the popularity of service in the Hussar regiments. Once the Russian Tsar Paul 1 canceled the bright and popular Hussar uniform and, by decree, introduced a simple and nondescript uniform for the Hussars of the officer corps, similar to a soldier's uniform. The hussars began to leave the service en masse. This is a historical fact and it shows how the Hussars loved and were proud of their shape.

WIKIPEDIA: Hussars were first recorded in Russia as groups of irregulars in the mid-17th century. Under Peter I this class of light cavalry began to serve as organized regiments on a semi-permanent basis. Hussar regiments remained a conscious element of the Imperial Russian Army until the Revolution of 1917.
