Description
Native American Haida Chief Skulka Totem Pole, 20th century. Based on one of several Haida poles from Southeast Alaska that included figures of Europeans. Much speculation has occurred as to the meaning of these figures. The bearded figure wears a red military uniform with epaulets, buttons, and pockets; above him, an eagle. Two small hat-wearing "watchmen" figures flank the eagle. Below the European figure is a feathered bird sitting on the head of a bear-like figure holding a seal-like figure. Size: 41" x 5.5" x 4.5" (104 x 14 x 11 cm).Note: There Are No Hidden or Confidential Reserves in this Auction; All Acceptable Bidding Commences at the Online Start Price.
