Description
This bowl is cut in one of the most desirable designs of the Brilliant Period– MeridenÂ’s Theodora. Meriden had some dynamite patterns like Rose Diamond and Byzantine and this piece is of the same quality as those super designs.First, feast your eyes on the center of this piece – a 44-point hobstar! Hobstars with this many points are rare enough but this one has a clear thumbprint on the hob to keep it parallel with the rest of the pattern. Petals of cane sprout forth from the center hobstar ring and run towards the edge. A deep miter runs between each of these and has parallel lines cut up either side of it. Then beautiful 42-point hobstars with clear thumbnail hobstar adorn the edge of the piece. The overall effect makes it look like many blooming flowers made of hobstars. It's remarkable.2377
Condition
The bowl is in excellent condition and measures 9 1/4″ wide and 3 3/4″ tall. The blank is perfectly clear and highlights one of the most desirable and recognizable patterns of the period.
