RIAA Gold Award for Jamiroquai's third studio album Travelling Without Moving, which was released on Jan. 3, 1997 and certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on June 3, 1997. 

Jay Kay and company achieved major success with this album, driven by worldwide funk hit "Virtual Insanity", which won him a Grammy award and four MTV awards, including Music Video Of The Year for 1997. It peaked at #38 on the U.S. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album peaked at #24 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #2 on the UK albums chart also hitting the top 10 in France, Finland, Italy, Germany, Sweden, the UK and other countries. By late 1997 the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million in sales in the U.S.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold album award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1997 making it approximately 24 years old. This award is presented to Mutant Promotions, a promotions and marketing company that provided services for many record labels.

The award has all original internals and frame in Excellent condition but it has been rebacked. Overall it is in VG to Excellent condition, with only a very minor mar or two on the frame and plexiglass and a very small amount of dust on the inside bottom of the frame.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
