Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Nazca culture, ca 300 to 500 CE. Striking textile and pelt bag used for storing personal belongings and often coca leaves. Deep brown section of llama or other camelid hide with outer fur sewn into long tapered bag. Woven camelid tassels in vibrant shades of red, gold, green and white attached at each lower "corner." A very appealing example not often found! Size on frame: 11" W x 26" H (27.9 cm x 66 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, ex-Drimmer Collection, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1950 to 1960
