Thomas a Kempis was a 15th-century medieval author known for his popular works of theology including ‘Imitation of Christ’. His important works include a collection of treatises and sermons that were focus on teaching meditation, advice on practical living, prayers, and growing and enriching a Christian life – most of which pertained directly to monastic life. Many of these were written while Kempis was at the convent of Mount St. Agnes.
This Cologne printing of the works of Kempis features the famous edition of Henricus Sommalius, which was one of the most reprinted and reissued versions of Kempis throughout the 17th-century.
