Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Monogram Coated Canvas Steamer Trunk, Late 19th Century Condition: 4 43" Width x 27" Height x 24" Depth This trunk is done in Damier Ebene monogram coated canvas with black and brass hardware, featuring wood trim, two metal handles, three flip clasps, and one keylock mechanism (no key included). The interior is done in canvas, featuring a tufted design top and three removable trays with security straps. There is a red stencil that reads "W.S.W 19-." on either side together with travel stickers to the left side. This trunk shows signs of age and heavy wear, such as heavy scratching, tarnishing, rusting, and verdigris to the hardware together with scratching, tears, losses, fading, darkening, and marks to the coated canvas and wood trims throughout. Additionally, the center clasp rests slightly ajar. The interior shows breaks to the ribbon at the top and security straps as well as substantial cracking, peeling, tearing, darkening, marks, water damage, and staining throughout. This trunk features the original Damier Canvas pattern first introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1888 and has stayed in one family through the generations since its possession in the late 19th century.
