Originally issued from 1741 until 1855 the Friedrich d’Or was initially based on the Wilhelm d’Or which was another Prussian coin bearing a royal moniker. Named after Frederick II of Prussia the Friedrich d’Or is an obscure type of Prussian gold coin. It equals the same amount as five silver Reichsthalers a standard Thaler silver coin of the Holy Roman Empire. Needless to say this Prussian coin is hard to come across in modern times which makes it a valuable collectible. It contains .9030 fine gold and weighs 0.194 troy oz.
