Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A delightful cast-lead tin alloy key exhibiting a loop at one end for attachment to a ring and a rectangular body that slightly bends and tapers to a projection at ninety degrees forming a locking mechanism. Covered in a rich patina of russet and seafoam green hues, the lovely key features a pair of decorative bands midway down the handle and four teeth on the locking mechanism. Imagine what this key once unlocked! Could easily be worn as a pendant. Size: 1" W x 3" H (2.5 cm x 7.6 cm)
