North America, American Colonies, ca. 1772. A handwritten piece of paper from the ledger of Philip Clime, likely the owner of a general store. This document lists the purchase of shoes for "Negro men and women." The list begins on January 1772 with entries for days and months through January 1773. The bottom is dated 20th March 1773 when the sum was totaled and presumably paid. The total amount came to 2 pounds 8 shillings and 5 pence. It is amazing that this simple receipt survived, an interesting look into early American accounting! Size: 6.375" L x 8.25" W (16.2 cm x 21 cm)

Condition
Small perforation at center tears to peripheries, creases, discoloration and stains. Writing is illegible in some areas but dates are legible!
