Description
This is a vintage Original Chelsea 1940's Radio Room Marine Ships Clock.
According to the serial # 489616 the clock was made between 1945 and 1949.
It is in full working order
The Dial contains the rarer 2nd Hour Hand, called the ZULU HAND.
The ZULU hand can be set to an alternate time zone, and is synchronized with the main hour hand,
so that the Radio Operator can know at a glance what time it is wherever they would be communicating
with (if relaying information to the time zone selected).
The dial has two 3 minute silent periods marked in red which must be observed by all radio stations at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour.
The case is perfect, opens & closes easily.
The glass is perfect & clean, locked in with its brass retaining ring.
The face of the clock is marked: "Chelsea"
The clock is 6 1/2" in diameter with the case and 2 7/8" thick.
It works as intended, keeping accurate time.
It is in nice vintage piece.
