Title: Mizuno Toshikata Bijinga Beautiful Women Woodblock Print Ukiyo-e
Description: This is a Japanese woodblock print by Mizuno Toshikata, one of the more affluent artists in the late 19th century. This print is in the bijinga genre, which shows beautiful women. The two women in this print are near the shore in beautiful fall colored kimono with a tree over the rocks. Like his other prints we have for auction, the title cartouche in the top left corner is textured embossed paper.
Signed: Toshikata, lower left corner. Red seal beneath that. Another small signature lower right corner, possibly Toshikata again. Blue inscription along outside of image on lower left side.
Circa: late 19th century.
Dimensions: Paper 14.5x9.75 inches. Image 12.75x8.75 inches.
Condition: Light toning on paper, although ink remains bright and vivid. No creases, folds, tears, rips, insect damage, or foxing.
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
