He studied at Central Academy of Art and Design and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In the mid 1980's, Zhiyue immigrated to the United States, where from 1989 to 1992 he studied at Chen Yifei Studio in New York and worked as an arts assistant. He conducted a solo exhibition in New Jersey and his painting series of Tibet was well received. Born in Shanghai, Zheng studied at Central Academy of Art and Design and Shanghai Jiao Tong University respectively.
