Description
Manner of Pierre Philippe Thomire (French, 1751–1843), first quarter 19th century. Pair of figural Empire bronze dore ormolu five-light candelabra, each depicting winged victory, holding aloft a floral basket issuing scrolled arms, standing on an acanthus decorated sphere, on a column base with torches and swagged florals, and on a square plinth. The underside of the drip pans stamped "PM". Approx. of one, h. 36", w. 13.5", d. 11.5".
Condition
Five bobeches not present; two replacements (dents to both); one arm broken loose; loss of gilding; central stem previously fitted with a nozzle or finial.
