Description
This bold Teec Nos Pos weaving was purchased at the home of the weaver. The spirit line is very apparent. 2.08' x 2.83'. Teec Nos Pos is a regional Navajo weaving area located on Arizona Route 160, close to the Four Corners region. Weavings from this area involve striking designs. The designs seem reminiscent of the Oriental designs introduced by the early traders in an attempt to revitalize Navajo weaving. However, it is interesting to note that the trader at Teec Nos Pos, H.B. Noel said that the design was originated by a missionary in the area. This rug design is known for its wide borders enclosing geometric elements around a center of bold geometrics. Date: c.1980Country (if not USA): State: ArizonaCity: Navajo ReservationProvenance:
