Item Details
Description
  • Title: Scarce variant of Texas, George F. Cram 1883
  • Description: Cerographic relief line engraving with county divisions in yellow and state boundaries outlined in rose. This double-page map is extremely scare, unlike the 1883/4 green and rose version found in later 1883 and 1884 editions of Cram’s Unrivaled Family Atlas. The earlier edition of Cram’s 1883 atlas appears to be the only one in which the yellow/rose combination was used. Includes inset of the panhandle which shows Greer County as part of Texas, rather than Oklahoma Territory. All railroad names, routes and railway stations are depicted, with the mileage between stations. The map also shows western forts, water holes and the names of Mexican border cities. Ornamental border. Enlarged Tom Green County before its division into several counties. Maps of Florida and Indian Territory on reverse side (also scarce yellow/rose combination). Nicely centered and good impression. Small bit of foxing in bottom margin. 11.875 x 17.125
