These children's costumes are from the 1965 ever-popular musical "The Sound of Music" starring Julie Andrews. Maria supposedly made these play clothes out green and white curtains from the manor. This lot includes costume pieces from two different characters. There is a shirt worn by Kurt (Duane Chase) that buttons up the front and measures 36 in. at the chest, 14 ½ in. from shoulder to shoulder and has a 24 in. length. Shorts belonging to Friedrich (Nicholas Hammond) are part of the lot. They have a 28 in. waist, and a 16 in. length with a full leg, and buttons sewn on the front and back for attaching suspenders. The shorts, stamped 'Western Costume' inside, also come with three sets of matching suspenders. These costumes, purchased at a Butterfield & Butterfield auction, still have the identifying tags.
