Title: An Interesting Rare German Tetex Rug with Pazyryk Pattern

Date/Period: 1930

Description: Europeans love to have Persian and other oriental rugs in their home or offic, that's why the Persian rugs always have been highly demanded in Europe. During the 1920's and 1930's, the Persian and Caucasian rugs were so popular and the weavers in Persia and Caucasus could not keep up with the orders from the western merchants. Thus, Some of the merchants decided to make the Persian and Caucasian design in Europe, some started in Germany which is called Tetex and some were made in Austria with another technique. The Germans mostly did geometric designs such as Heriz, Serapi, Some Bokhara and Caucasians, but the ones were made in Austria had a floral design, mostly were taken from Persian Tabriz and Mahal patterns. Without being bias It must admit that Europeans did better in color combination than Persians or other weavers in the Caucasus. But the one that I am offering here, its pattern is none of that. This pattern is called Pazyryk, the Pazyryk is the oldest rug that has ever found. during the excavation of the tomb of Shiite chief in Altai mountain in Siberia 1847, they found the Pazyryk rug on one sheet of ice and after all the studies, it was determined that Pazyryk rug was woven 5 centuries B.C., therefore, the art of the rug weaving in Persia goes back to 2500 years. It is so awkward that they put this design in Tetex rug but could be the one and only in Tetex. We don't know how many were made but whoever will end up to own he or she will have a unique piece. It measures 9'-9" x 12'-8
