Artist-signed carving of a Tennessee Walking Horse, c. 1950s, American, artist cipher "HH" to underside (possibly Herbert Haseltine (American, 1877-1962), likely cherry wood with painted feet, naturalistically carved in stride, mounted to wood plinth, 7"h x 9"l x 3"w (total)
Provenance: Furnishings from the Estate of Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, a Parish-Hadley Commission
Notes/Literature: Model, socialite, and Andy Warhol protege, Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, made her name as a young editor at Interview Magazine and as a popular subject of the Society pages. Later marrying German industrialist and polo champion Henryk de Kwiatkowski, they built a Connecticut country estate and stables, designed by architect Alan Wanzenberg and decorated by legendary interior designers Sister Parish and Albert Haley
