Description
This is an estate found graphite drawing by New York artist Douglas Howland. Howland (1920-1999) was an American Postwar & Contemporary artist. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated in 1941 with a Fine Arts degree. He served as Artist Preparator at the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences and the New York State Museum at Albany. His nature based artworks brought him many accolades, including have his artwork used as a logo for the New York State Ornithological Association. This drawing is from his early career, done in 1946. The graphite drawing has two foxes interacting in a field of grass. The fur has lovely detailing with the graphite. The artwork is signed in the right bottom side. - The matting measures 16" x 13 1/2". The sight view measures 11 1/4" x 8 3/8".
Condition
In overall very good condition. The paper has some toning and light staining. The matting has dings and scratches to the edges, toning, and staining. This condition is consistent with age and use.
