Large 19th C Oil on Canvas Painting of Men Night Spear Fishing - as artist painted the lighter areas of moon breaking through the clouds and reflecting on the water at the base of the painting, smoke coming from flamed torch, small area where campfire is burning, painting needs to be cleaned, few minor paint flaking, appears unsigned, no viewable paint retouching (there is one small area on the torch where the paint is textured which was intentional by the artist or a very old repaint) flaking to areas of the gesso, unusual frame has wide sides with etched and stenciled design surrounded by raised scroll work, sight measures 33 1/2" W x 23 1/2" H, frame measures 47" W x 2 1/2" D x 36 1/2" H. Frame with gesso losses to some of the beading and trim. Not black lighted. No in-house shipping. We will take to UPS store if buyer requests.
