Ursula Hanke Forster
(From Berlin University)Ursula Hanke Förster Foundation: Ursula Hanke-Förster was born on April 8, 1924 in Berlin. She studied painting and sculpture at the Berlin School of Fine Arts from 1945 to 1952 and was a master class student of Professor Renée Sintenis. In 1954 she received the art award of the city of Berlin. She became known as a result of her first solo exhibition in New York in 1959. This show was to be followed by countless others by 2001. Her works were very much influenced by her study trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and South America. Her sculptures can be seen on and in buildings and in places in Berlin as well as in many other cities in Germany. In 2007 she bequeathed her work - sculptures and graphics - to the Berlin University of the Arts. Together with her husband Günter Hanke, she decided that a foundation should be set up to support students of the fine arts faculty, specializing in sculpture. This concern is implemented by awarding the donor's prize. The prize was awarded for the first time on the 2009 tour. Ursula Hanke-Förster died on November 22, 2013 in Berlin.
