Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fabulous pendant depicting an abstract, three-headed jaguar that is hollow-cast from tumbaga with a high 45.5% gold content. The recumbent animal presents with a raised feline head bearing perky ears, slightly protruding eyes, and braided whiskers, and atop its head projects a second head resembling a horse with plugged nostrils and a ring-form mane. The jaguar's forelegs are bent beneath its body and terminate with coiling suspension loops and comprising its 'tail' is a second equestrian-like head with additional ringlets constructing its mane. The lustrous patina that envelops the accessory create a glinting presentation.
