José Belloni (Uruguayan, 1882-1965) gilt bronze sculpture, Jineteando. The sculpture depicts a man riding a horse. Name plaque to the front with the artist name and tile. Mounted to a wooden base. Born in Montevideo, the sculptor Jose Belloni went to Switzerland in 1890 and studied drawing and painting at the canton school in Lugano. Belloni has received numerous prizes, such as the award of the Rotary Club, Buenos Aires, in 1963. His extensive oeuvre includes portrait busts, tombstones, allegorical and religious sculptures, medals, ceramics, porcelain, drawings and watercolors. Works by the artist can for example be admired at the City Palace of Lugano, at the cathedral of Montevideo and at the Museo Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro. - askart.com
