**Originally Listed At $200**

West Africa, Burkina Faso, Lobi culture, ca. early 20th century CE. A fine hand-carved wooden slingshot handle with two anthropomorphic heads. Carved from a single piece of wood, the frame has two long rectangular prongs for securing the sling. The handle features janiform heads with stylized faces presenting jutting lips, angular noses, and narrow eyes. The wood has a nice smooth luster from age and use. Slingshots such as this were used for hunting and scaring away animals. Size: 2.5" W x 8.125" H (6.4 cm x 20.6 cm); 8.75" H (22.2 cm) on included custom stand.
