An Eames chair and ottoman that invites you to relax and sit "like your in a used baseball glove", yet don't let it's relaxed manner fool you for it was coveted since the beginning by the affluent and cultural aesthete. Whether it was to exclaim you have arrived or you were trying to impress you neighbors, there are few chairs that can be summed up by a name, perhaps the Wassily or the Barcelona chair to name a few? As collectors young and old have changed the lot and future of mid-century modern collecting there's always an audience for the Eames chair whether it's Herman Miller reproduction or the real deal. This chair contains the same fitted double supported backrest joined by a central batten at the reverse,lower seat and arm rests all conformed into a bentwood plywood curvilinear form. The ottoman matches the rhythm of the afforementioned chair, for they both contain a centripetal swivel pedestal. Made by husband and wife design team Ray & Charles Eames, we all like to imagine that from their early courting at Black Mountain College to working with Saarinen they had a shared vision for curvilinear design that carried them through every iteration and greatly inspired a new way of working.
