Description
Early American helmet form cream pot, maker WW, circa 1800, having standard helmet shaped body, tall strap handle, short shaft, and square base. The rim, shaft, and base are all beaded en suite. Original, well-executed monogram ''SW'' on front and later engraved monogram ''SW to SW'' in wrigglework block lettering inside foot. Maker's mark ''W.W'' with period between letters, in small rectangular cartouche, on edge of base below handle. 7''h. Total approximate weight 5.5 troy oz. Provenance: Bryce George Muir, Higganum, CT, 1973. Note: It is difficult to pinpoint a silversmith for this set of marks.
