Description
"Gibbon's History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire"; New Edition, in Twelve Volumes; Printed for W. Allason & Co, 1817. Group is comprised of all original twelve volumes, fully bound in calf leather with tooled and gilt decoration. Light bumping to boards, inc scuffing and rubbing. Traces of mild foxing throughout, pages generally clean. Spines with moderate chipping and cracking to leather, some with hairline cracks in areas along hinges. Moderate rubbing, areas of weakening to some hinges including; loosening (with some separation) to front board of Vol. III, slight loosening to front and rear board of Vol. XII, vertical crack along front hinge of Vol. IX. Altogether in good to very good condition for age, a very attractive set.
