a pair of Japanese Kutani gourd vase,Meiji Period, painted with shaped panels enclosed with figures conversing with each other, holding paper scrolls and fans on their hands. Enclosed with cloud swirls pattern in between. All reserved on an iron red ground. Upper section decorated with flowering plants and birds. Finial in a form of a floral bud. H: 12.4"(31.4cm)Provenance: Estate Sale of Dr. Solomon Stone, a clinical psychologist and professor at Brooklyn College. Condition: both vase in good condition, free of damage, only one cover has some damage to it
