Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 117 to 235 CE. A group of 3 silver Roman coins. Hadrian (117 to 138 CE) Obverse: Laurate head to right with draped bust with inscription: "IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG." Reverse: Aeternitas to left standing with inscription: "PM TRP COS III." Caracalla (198 to 217 CE) minted 210 to 213 CE. Obverse: Laurate head to right with inscription: "ANTONIUS PIVS AVG BRIT." Reverse: Mars walking left holding spear and trophy with inscription: "MARTIPROPVG NATORI." Severus Alexander (222 to 235 CE) Obverse: Laureate head to right with bust draped and cuirassed with inscription: "IMP CM AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG." Reverse: Salus seated left resting left arm on throne and holding a patera and feeding a snake coiling up from altar with inscription: "P MTRPCOS RP." cp: RIC 14, BMC 33, RSC 218. All are in fine condition and relatively the same size: 0.7" diameter (1.8 cm); quality of silver: 92.5 to 95.6%; total weight of all: 8.4 grams
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
