Rome, Imperial, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A stunning pair of 98% gold (equivalent to 23K+) earrings, each presenting five petite glass beads in hues of cobalt, sienna, powder blue, and cream with a splattering of lovely tan-colored earthen deposits. Each adornment features a slender leaf of gold above three beads grouped on the same horizontal plane in a triangular arrangement followed by two beads lined vertically. Four of the beads display a lustrous gold leaf and a petite orb at their bases. Both danglers feature a tubular golden bead at the top, however, one is embellished by a spiraling incised horizontal striation, while the other exhibits four risen horizontal ribs. A modern 14 karat gold-plated sterling silver hook caps each arrangement, allowing these gorgeous adornments to be wearable.
