**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Northern Coast of Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1100 to 1470 AD. A fine tumi formed from a lengthy sheet of hammered copper with a slightly flared handle and crescent blade at one end. This piece has a brilliant green oxidized patina touched with organic patterns and markings which have occurred over time. The blade has a smooth, rustic, feel accented by fine, rugged edging. A tumi is a ceremonial knife that often accompanied the warrior or shaman into the afterlife. Size: 5" W x 10.5" H (12.7 cm x 26.7 cm); 11" H (27.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Noticeable chips and nicks along the top left portion of its head. Oxidized patina gives the piece its rich green coloring. Organic staining has occurred through time giving its surface a dynamic appeal.
