Description
A GROUP OF TWO CONTINENTAL CAST BRONZE INKWELLS, POSSIBLY FRENCH, 19TH CENTURY, one modeled as a nicely detailed spread-winged silvered eagle standing on stylized silvered rockwork and head turned towards his back, where rests a large hinged globe with engraved longitude/latitude lines opening to a vacant interior, illegibly stamped three times on rockwork, height: 5", width: 5 1/4", depth: 4 1/4"; together with a tricorn hat on tasseled pillow bronze inkwell, with button trim above a ribbon wrapped dome joined on a floral bloom and adorned with a long curling feather plume, enclosing a hinged lid with spread-winged dove cast handle and opening to a removable circular bronze rimmed glass inkpot, height: 3 1/4", width: 4 1/2", depth: 4 3/4".? ? ?? Condition
Each in good antique condition with surface buildup and normal wear for bronze inkwells, while the eagle/globe inkwell has silver plating worn to the bronze in areas throughout and is lacking the inkpot. The tricorn hat is in good condition with interior inkpot covered in black ink residue, tarnish, and surface buildup throughout.?
