Description
Frank Vietor (Indianapolis, IN 1919-2006) "First Snow"; 8" x 12", acrylic on illustration board, signed lower right. Set up in acid-free materials and a recent frame.

Frank Vietor Biography (from the FineEstateArt.com site)

Born December 21, 1919 in Poland, Indiana. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served as an artist for the Allied Intelligence in Europe during World War II. After his service, he enrolled in the Herron School of Art, graduating in 1948.

Frank worked as a commercial artist and illustrator. In 1957, with Jim Bradford, he formed the Bradford & Vietor Advertising Art agency. As a fine artist he is known for his paintings of steam trains and landscapes. His interests included nature, photography and fossils. He was actively involved in charity work, including the Toy Workshop, making toys donated to the Concord Neighborhood Center.

Frank was well exhibited at the Hoosier Salon, taking numerous awards throughout the years. In 1975, “Nostalgia” won third prize for Outstanding Landscape, Oil and in 1976 his “Class of ’49” was awarded a Jury Prize of Distinction, Traditional.

Was said to have reflected on his work something like the following, ‘I paint traditional landscapes, most of which happen to have a train in them.’

Frank Vietor died in Indianapolis on March 20, 2006.
