Seven volumes from the Waverley novels series by Sir Walter Scott, published in New York by White Stokes and Allen in 1885. Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish poet whose works were classics in both English and Scottish literature. He began writing the Waverley novels in 1805 and completed them in 1814, eight of the novels were published in pairs. White Stokes and Allen only lasted from 1883 to 1887, so these editions are scarce, and the novels here are first editions thus. They have gilt decorated spines, marbleized covers, edges, and end papers, light wear, and measure 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 in wide. Please note that all sales are final.
