(2) items including Luba style (Central Africa) carved wood female figure holding her belly symbolizing “the desire for a safe birth”, on a metal base; and a West African Dan / Bassa mini or 'passport' mask having an oval form, carved coiffure, tapering facial plane ending in a pointed chin, fine dark brown glossy patina, on a metal base
Property from: a Northbrook, Illinois collector
Height: 11 inches, Length: 3 inches, Width: 3 inches (largest)
Condition: Good, overall light wear consistent with age; Luba having a 3-inch crack on left side of head and a 4-inch crack on front of main body, neither affecting the integrity of piece, some minor cracks on face and back, some minor chipping on headdress; Dan having minor cracks on face near mouth
