Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Appears that no solid pieces of wood are cracked. Some areas where multiple pieces of wood are joined together would benefit from small amounts of additional glue, but does not affect structure. Felt intact. Would benefit from cleaning. Chain is used in eye hooks to prevent steps from lifting apart at hinge during use. Sturdy. Heavily scratched and nicked throughout, per normal wear and tear. Only a few small gouges to finish. Sharp end of nail protrudes from proper right diagonal bar. Minor loss to veneer in two areas, only about ½ in. squared. Impressive design, a unique example.
