Hand-made and hand-painted Steinbach "Chubby Curler" Nutcracker. This high quality and made in Germany, wooden nutcracker is approx 6" x 3" x 10 1/2". He's in good, unused condition with only some wearing on the bottom of the base. Steinbach is recognized worldwide for their intricately designed hand-carved wooden nutcrackers.The family-owned German company was founded over two centuries ago and was bought to worldwide prominence in the 20th century by Herr Christian Steinbach who ran the company from 1947 until his death in 2007. After his death the job of running the company was taken over by Christian's daughter, Karla Steinbach, who also acts as their chief designer.Nutcrackers hold a special place in German folklore, with numerous tales of their providing protection from evil spirits as well as bringing good luck to families and their homes.
