Item Details
Description
Latin America, Spanish Colonial or Mexican, ca. late 18th to mid-19th century CE. A lovely and formidable spear of a minimalist yet deadly form. The forged-iron spear head bears a diamond-shaped blade with flat faces and a pointed tip, and the tapered, thickened bottom narrows gradually before resting atop an iron midsection. Beneath the central section is a smooth wooden pole that was perhaps shortened from its original size due to damage sustained along the bottom area. Several perforations within the wooden pole were likely used as suspension loops for thick thread strands to be strung through for ease of transportation. Size: 1.6" W x 64.4" H (4.1 cm x 163.6 cm)
